I love the projection of the sun through the net curtains onto my fabric sample print. If only there were net curtains in the exhibition room!

Even more hours of frustration sees the production of my final clamshell portfolio box. In a very fetching hunter green to pick up the green tones in the photos and compliment the softness of the images.

And also black is a bit too harsh. And it is boring.

Hours of measuring, folding, glueing and extreme frustration has given birth to a hand made portfolio box.
Not perfect, but suits very well the hand-made nature of my work and something I am very proud of!

I have used my Box Brownie as an alternative book cover. The wish list typed up onto a receipt roll has been wound onto the 620 spools and a bespoke metal winder has been made to allow them to be turned to view the text. Ideally I would have liked to have a window at the back of the camera that is looked through to view the text, but I can't have everything and this works just as well!
Business cards have arrived!

The size is perfect for the photos. Small, delicate and intimate.

Would also look good as postcards!
A nice little card hand typeset and printed by Justin Knopp.

Very nice Justin!

Subtle and delicate.

Print samples on cotton voile.

Final prints will be over a meter wide and a meter long to fit, each to fit one of four windows. Fabric is nice and light to allow as much light as possible to shine through.

Things a lady would like to know concerning domestic management

A book I found in a second hand book shop for £1. It advises women on how best to keep their houses, how to be economical with food and money, how to make a comfortable home, how to raise children and how to heat an iron without it cracking.
Although I don't need to know about irons or raising children, the section entitled "Hints For Home Comforts" is interesting in relation to my photographs of the domestic space.
I intend to letterpress the list of "Hints For Home Comforts". I also want to try and find a plate like the flower one at the top of the list that I can include in my work.

portfolio is coming along slowly but surely!

7 hour darkroom shifts are paying off.

impressions

Foil blocking for the title is proving to be a little problematic as the letters are too big/not the right font and I don't want to just use it for the sake of it. So this is my alternative idea, just running it through the letter press. The ink wasn't intentional, I meant for it to just be an impression, but perhaps ink on the lighter colors might work?
For now I like the look of it and it's quite in keeping with the delicate kind of style.

(Political colors were not intentional)
